Charles Salgado is DoorCo’s Business Administration Apprentice, which means he works across all areas of the business to learn and develop the skills, discipline and professionalism to form the foundations of any successful business career.
Charles’ journey started in July 2021, fresh out of college with no clear career path in mind. Charles explains:
Undecided career path? …
“That was my situation way back in early 2021. Finishing college, I wasn’t quite sure on the next path I wanted to take and then, there’s an open opportunity provided by DoorCo to start a career as an apprentice…I took my shot and I have been rewarded with the opportunity to gain knowledge and practical skills in a business environment.
“DoorCo as an employer is very supportive in guiding me to set my future goals. The company’s commitment to shaping a starter’s mindset has helped me decide on a clearer path and through the mentorship I have received, helped me further my knowledge and skills to start that journey. The apprenticeship programme has developed my discipline and professionalism in the work environment. I feel like DoorCo has really invested time and effort in me and I have found them to be an employer that cares about and values their apprentices. They are an employer that is open to providing individuals like me, the opportunity to start and strive for a successful career.”
Focus on a future in finance
Charles continues: “I started my career as a Business Administration Apprentice under DoorCo’s Technology department. As part of the qualification I am working towards, I was given the opportunity to work in the Finance department. This change made me realise that I wanted a career in this area and I am now working as Finance Assistant. With this focus and DoorCo’s support of my professional growth, I have decided to take another apprenticeship course which will then give me further knowledge and a qualification in accounting.
